Ebstein's pre and post operative morphology
Ebstein's Anomaly: 3D echo profiling the dynamic morphology of individual leaflets.
The three valve leaflets are profiled here on an enface view. The septal leaflet is less mobile than the other two. The edges of the anterior and mural side are heavily muscularised but the leaflets hinge points and body are thin. This makes the accurate imaging difficult due to the differential echogenecity of the thin and muscularised portions. The large central coaptation failure is clearly seen here. Compare this with the post surgical pictures below.
Post-operative image of the tricuspid valve showing significantly reduced annulus with plicated RV. There is prolapse of the functionally monocuspid valve but it is clearly competent.
